Visual identity and logo design

An identity is a system, not a file. It covers how the mark behaves at every size, which colours and typefaces carry it, and the artwork a printer, signwriter or social media manager will ask for.

Businesses with no mark at all, and businesses whose current mark cannot survive being reproduced on a banner, a shirt or a 16-pixel favicon.

How we work through visual identity and logo design

A logo suite, not a single file

One logo cannot do every job. A horizontal lockup suits a website header, a stacked version suits a poster, and a single letter suits a favicon or an embroidered cap. We design the family together so all of them read as the same brand.

  • Primary mark plus horizontal, stacked and single-letter versions
  • Single-colour and reversed versions for dark grounds, glass and embroidery
  • Clear-space and minimum-size rules so it is never squeezed

Colour and type chosen for real materials

Screen colour and printed colour are not the same thing. Each brand colour is specified for print and for screen so a banner and a website do not end up two different greens, and typefaces are chosen with licensing in mind so nobody is caught out later.

  • Print references for the press and digital values for screens
  • A typeface hierarchy with fallbacks for documents and email
  • Contrast checked so text stays readable for everyone

Files that work the first time

Most delays are file problems rather than design problems. The identity is handed over as a named, organised export set, so whoever asks for the logo gets the right version immediately.

  • Vector files for printers and signwriters, PNG for everyday use
  • Print-ready and screen-ready exports, correctly named
  • Favicon and social profile versions prepared in advance

What you receive

  • Primary logo with horizontal, stacked and single-letter lockups
  • Colour palette with print and screen values
  • Typeface selection with licensing guidance
  • Stationery and document templates
  • Social and digital profile set
  • A named export package: vector, PDF, PNG and favicon

Questions we are often asked

  • Can you design just a logo?

Yes, but we will always hand over the things a logo needs to be usable: chosen colours, type and the exports for print and screen. A mark with no system around it tends to drift within a year, and that drift is what makes a business look smaller than it is.

  • Who owns the artwork?

Ownership, licensing and file handover are agreed in writing before the work starts, so there is no ambiguity later about what the business may use and where.

  • How does the artwork reach our printer or signwriter?

You receive correctly named vector and print-ready files to pass on. Where it helps, we speak directly with the printer or fabricator about sizes, materials and colour matching so nothing is lost in translation.
