How much does corporate printing cost in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania?

Printing is one of the few purchases where the same brief can produce quotes that differ enormously, and the reason is almost always the specification rather than the supplier. Understanding what moves the number makes the whole process calmer.

The things that set the price

  • Paper or material. Weight, coating and finish change both the feel and the cost, and the difference between two similar-looking stocks can be substantial.
  • Quantity. Most methods have setup costs, so the price per unit falls as the run gets longer — which is why over-ordering to 'save money' often just buys storage.
  • Finishing. Binding, folding, lamination, spot finishes, die-cutting and eyelets are separate operations, each with its own cost.
  • Size and format. Unusual sizes waste material, and material is what you are buying.
  • Print method. Digital suits short runs and quick turnarounds; offset becomes cheaper as quantities rise. Colour count matters on both.
  • Turnaround. A rushed job pays for somebody else's schedule to be rearranged.

Why quotes for the same job differ

When two printers look at the same brief and return different numbers, it is usually because they have read the brief differently. Common culprits include one quoting on lighter paper, one excluding delivery, one assuming single-sided printing, and one pricing a smaller quantity than you asked for. None of these is dishonest, but together they make the numbers meaningless to compare.

How to get a comparable quote

  • State the quantity exactly, and ask for the price at two or three quantities so you can see the effect.
  • Name the stock, weight and finish — or ask the printer to specify what they are quoting on.
  • Say whether artwork is supplied or needs preparing, and in what format.
  • Ask what is included: delivery, packaging, proofs, and any additional revisions.
  • Confirm the turnaround in writing, including when artwork must be approved for that date to hold.

Where money is genuinely wasted

The most expensive printing mistakes are not negotiated: they are reprints. Artwork that goes to press with a wrong colour space, a missing bleed, a low-resolution logo or a misspelled line costs the entire run, not the difference between two quotes. A proof stage that adds a day to the schedule usually saves far more than it costs.

If you would like a quote you can actually compare, send the specification — quantity, size, stock, finish and deadline — and we will price it against that, with the assumptions written down.
